Haha to be fair I'm not really watching just for Aramis, but he is by far the eye candy of the piece!
I wasn't expecting to like it, I mean I only saw bits and bobs of Atlantis but it bored me to hell and high water, and to be totally honest with you I hated Merlin. Couldn't stand it (and Santiago Cabrera was in that as well as Lancelot!) So I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying it.
It isn't about the men so much as its about their characters. I mean I don't find Howard Charles attractive but his Porthos is a boss! I loved his character development this episode. They are bringing something new and unique to the characters. I never could stand the old Musketeer movies, the 2011 one was alright but for all the wrong reasons, this is actually exciting! It makes the Musketeers look fun, you understand why someone would want to be a Musketeer. Not only that it treats them all as people, over all I don't think Aramis and Athos had much of an opinion on slavery but what they did to Emile they did out of love for Porthos. They've gotten the bond between characters so strongly implanted into the series and its only episode 3!
I really don't get why people don't seem to be liking it, it really is just good escapism TV.
And this last episode was wonderful for building tension for future stories as well as filling out characters. But it lost none of its drama in doing so! Too often in things like Game of Thrones they don't get the balance right and you end up with a boring episode with lots of talking to make a character flesh out, or a episode full of bangs and whistles and not understanding the point of it all.
This is good adult TV without having to be in your face adult TV.
