People hide crisps from you? I know it is all a joke now but it is a serious problem. Look at all the people blaming not only films and games and TV shows but personalities! Anders Brevik blamed Jeremy Clarkson of all people, but it is the way the BBC help him package himself that will lead people to attempt to use him as the reason they do these things. Yes we all know in our sane minds that Clarkson is harmless and runs his mouth because its a bit of fun and would never harm another person or want others to go out and kill other people, but even if they are sane but angry people they will find these things to use as ammunititon to fight! ... Yeah I'm with Luc on this, so what he named Jeremy Clarkson in his stupid essay. I could give thousands to charity and name Jeremy Clarkson as the reason behind it would that balance it out? No people would just think I'm weird like they think Brevik was weird. The thing is what is inside a individual person is what makes them the way they are, nothing in the world can make someone a killer, yeah they could use it to make it "alright" in their mind but face it you could give them a Westlife CD and they'd find a hidden message in their songs. It might be a joke but its true. You listen to a love song it makes you sad, happy or angry. If it makes you sad and angry and you go out and do something then you can always point the finger at that song. Does that make the band that sang it, the person who wrote it or any of the other millions of people who get sad, angry, happy or a mixture of the above accessories to your crime? No. It is an easy thing to blame and a lot of the time you'll find it isn't even really the people DOING the crimes that point the fingers at them, if they do mention them its more out of profiling and showing what lifestyle they have moreover them saying "Rammstein made me kill a man". Its all apart of this "you have to get angry for other peoples sake" brigade. Silly really. But if we packaged things a little differently then surely there wouldn't be all this problems? If someone censored some of the stronger views of Clarkson no one can take them the wrong way now can they? OK I might have made a slight joke but what do you expect? The song told me to go out and murder everyone. Well turn the song off and listen to something more cheerful! The game showed me how to do it! What you killed them by pressing the X button on a PS3? Unlikely. Now shoving the Wii controller up someones arse might hurt but I doubt the game actually taught you that. It looked so cool in the movie! So if that character jumped off a bridge so would you? Yeah I didn't think so. Yeah people SAY they are influenced by these things, but they aren't. They use them as a way to have someone to blame "Hey it isn't me that's messed up its these people who influence me but not the millions of millions of other people in the world". The question is what are you asking Manda? Are you asking if it DOES influence people or if people BELIEVE it influences them? A bit of both. You can't have it both ways. If a song influences you to write a story or paint a picture how is that different to influencing you to rob a bank or kill someone? Yes I get that it can't MAKE you do things but on the same principal you aren't MADE to write the story or paint the picture but if you do and you are asked where inspiration comes from unless you lie and say it was all you then you'll say "this song I listened to put the idea in my head" just the same as someone robbing a bank could have looked at (seeing Anna brought them up) Rammstein's Ich Will video, saw them robbing a bank and decided that they should do it for the sake of it. How are the two different?
