You see this post just shows how much you don't understand Will Graham. The first season was interesting that it brought the concept of Will's empathy partly being down to illness, but Will hardly figured it out of nothing. He was able to figure it out by the model of the Wound Man that Lecter has in his office. Yes it is more of a lucky guess then anything but then again the original Graham didn't really have much of a empathy thing going on he was just bloody good at his work. He also never left the FBI, he was sanctioned after catching Jacob Hobbs but he came back to the FBI and retired after catching Hannibal. Can you really see Hannibal's Will Graham living a normal life? After all this craziness? He's murdered people in cold blood, he's mutilated people and eaten human's on purpose. He's been cold and calculating which is a sign of a psychopath/socio-path more then a normal man who could meet a normal women and have a relationship. He's building an interesting trap for Hannibal, I'll agree with that, but he hasn't told a particularly good story involving Will, he's turned a lot of characters 180 degrees, implanted brand new personalities and ruined a lot of what people liked about the original season. I mean I don't know what they have left to do really, they can't do Silence of the Lambs and I'd rather they never use Will Graham as a replacement Clarice (even though that is what they've kind of done seeing she joined Hannibal's side.) Why wouldn't Alana, who has known Hannibal for years, who was so close to him people thought they were having an affair years before, who goes to his house and he makes her her own special beer.... Why wouldn't they get together? Its more realistic then her falling for a broken loser like this version of Will Graham. Then again I much preferred season one Dancy Graham to this one and Norton's Graham is still by far the best. I agree with this. I mean I'm not saying anyone should not enjoy it just because I've found the season patchy, but you can hardly line them up to the originals. Hannibal maybe, whilst changing Hannibal slightly Mads is still working to the template of a proper Hannibal. Will Graham isn't just different from the book version of him or any of the film versions, he's a totally different person from the first series! Yes alright being caught in this type of situation might make you a bit upset but lets face it. He had no proof that Hannibal did anything, its just a good way to gloss over having any real revel having him "remember" things all of a sudden, and whether he thought Hannibal was a killer or not is immaterial. HE KILLED AND ATE PEOPLE! Even when he believed Hannibal was serving him up human on the side HE WENT BACK FOR MORE! He put (yes WILL GRAHAM PUT) the Vergers in the position they were in, because without Will Graham the story changes ever so slightly. Yes it was interesting that they made Will challenge Hannibal. But I don't for one second believe it was a real challenge, Hannibal seems to shake him off like a little pet "aww Will is trying to impress me by catching me by being just as cold and calculating as I am. Better give him a treat and tell him something about me." Even in the penultimate episode (I haven't seen the finale yet, that is how bad its gotten to me!) or the episode before that Jack Crawford ADMITTED that he had no evidence, that Will had not given him one shred to prove this. I believe : Spoiler Jack gets taken off the case or something because there isn't any proof?
I mean its a funny old world when the FB ******* I allows people to eat other people to MAYBE prove that the other person is a killer! 90% of the season felt like people just believing Will because why would Will lie? Why would he have done any of these horrible things? But whilst as a audience THAT WAS HOW WE FELT IN SEASON ONE! That feeling got lost when WILL BECAME A PSYCHO HIMSELF! Hugh Dancy is a superb actor, they all are, they've all acted perfectly what they've been given, the cast is a diamond cast! And I'm not even saying Fuller has written a load of shit, he hasn't, in one way it is a wonderfully scripted dramatic dance between two wonderful leads BUT it failed to give any logical train of thought. People moan about the plot holes in Moffat's Who...... They'd have a field day with this season! And I won't WON'T be watching Season Three because it is yet another different story being told. I just didn't like the way this story evolved, yes the story was interesting but we didn't get to see the FBI side being intelligent, we didn't get to see Hannibal lose his cool, we didn't get any flow like in season one. Everything went bipolar. One second yes the next no, one minute good the next bad. It'll get it back no doubt in season three and beyond but they missed some of the magic of season one this time out. I really don't think I could disagree with you both less. There doesn't need to be any big reason why people believe Will, they were all friends with Will, Hannibal was a side to last season but Will was someone they trusted and loved. Of course they'd want to believe that Will was innocent, I don't believe anyone ever saying they were 100% certain that Will was guilty and more baffled by there being evidence against him. If he's proved to be innocent then why wouldn't they believe him? His empathy makes him the perfect person for a detective and he'd found more in less, so when he says he believes its Hannibal why would they ever disbelieve him? The story has to be different from the first season because they arrested Will in Season One and they are hardly going to carry on the police drama that they were doing in Season One, the story shifted to be about the characters and not the situations and of course the character they had to focus on would be Will. It was more important that they developed Will then Hannibal. What is there to develop with Hannibal? Nothing! There is no point developing a one sided cannibal, Hannibal works because he's just Mr I eat the Rude. Now Will has great depth and they pulled a great series out of it, why do you think Hugh is up for awards and Mikkelsen isn't? Will hasn't become a psycho and as you said the FBI was behind them all the way. It is the way it has to be done so be it. I don't think I will enjoy next season too much if it'll all be about Hannibal on the run...
