Course I've read all about it!
I find it interesting but at the same time it doesn't look like it'll ever be looked at properly. The guy who wrote the book basically is going to sell his theory to the nth degree so won't want to fund any more research into the shawl, or maybe he genuinely doesn't have the money... Or possibly just doesn't care! His theory (what I've heard of it as haven't read the book properly yet) is full of holes that are being picked apart online.
I don't know how I feel. On the one hand I'd love us to know who the Ripper was, on the other hand I don't think it can happily be solved in the eyes of everyone who reads up on it. After all everyone has a suspect/theory that they prefer and nothing is set in stone. The police officer and shawl are far from being at the crime scene both were meant to be at and I have no real feeling that either Kosminski or Eddowes owned the shawl. They say that Kosminski could have brought it to the scene but I don't see why he would choose that of all things, and just because the shawl might have originated from where he came from doesn't mean he had the money to buy it. Plus what if he brought it for Eddowes? What if it was a gift? Where he got the money for a shawl like that no one knows. Then again also Eddowes had pawned stuff not long before her death so if she was that poor why wouldn't she pawn the shawl?
None of it makes sense and until the scientist gets to do more work on the DNA profiling or else we establish fully where the shawl came from etc there is a lot to discuss and potential for more fun speculation but I think it is far off being established.
