The royal family means nothing to me. Now I have respect for the Queen and the bravery and strength that she showed during the war, that is what our royals are there for now. They have no real power, they don't do anything, so standing strong in the face of everything during WWII was why I love our Queen.

Harry I like because he is just a normal guy and given the chance he'd be out there fighting like a real solider and being just a normal male.

The rest I can't stand. They just don't look like they try to fit into life, they know they are the royal family so they have to be above everyone. And the thing is all I ever heard (and this was apparently from an interview with Kate) is that she followed William around uni and basically forced herself into his life. As far as I'm concerned she's like one of these WAGS that bag themselves a footballer so that they can proudly call themselves a WAG.

So what after the Queen either passes the throne down or dies Charles will be king or he'll just let William take the throne, and now their off spring will be first in line to the throne too. And I'm meant to celebrate?

Am I meant to sit online and congratulate every female who gets pregnant?

I don't know the royal family, I'll never meet them or their child, I vote for the Prime Minister and for my local government, they are the people who change my life. The royals we get stuck with whether we want them or not, they are meant to "lift" our spirits with their expensive weddings, jubilees and seeing them cheering on our Olympians at our home Olympics. Now we are going to have a royal baby.

I feel like the whole thing is turning into a Lori thing from the Walking Dead, apparently our country needs this child for whatever reason.

I'd much rather William and Kate were made to go to work like normal people, and when I say work I mean WORK. Not all this charity BS and going on world tours for whatever reason they had to do them. I mean get a proper hard working job in a shop, get a degree to become a Doctor, train to be a teacher... Anything like a NORMAL person. I'd have more respect for them if they did that then them having a kid, inheriting a title that right now means so little and expecting people to feel all warm and fuzzy inside whenever they throw a party.

If the royals DID something other than show up when times are tough or have parties that are meant to lift the nations spirits I would like them, I'm not anti-royals I just don't see the point in them. They have no say in the way the country is run, if they do and I don't know about it (to be honest I can't remember all that stuff now anyway) then they are just as to blame as the government and all those little people there that have put our country into this state. If we went back to like Henry VIII kind of Kings and Queens I'd love them! But as they are they are just celebrities.

And when I say that I mean celebs, not hard working actors, musicians, artists who take the limelight when needed but actually work hard on what they do, I mean like the gutter press celebs who appear on I'm a Celeb and all that.

I don't know much about the couple, haven't brought into the hype. She looks like something out of a Dr Suess book and he just looks pompus. I mean I know that might go against the rules of the thread but if you want to put your faith into something at least have good looking saviors!

It has nothing to do with the baby itself, I have a dislike for the royal family or at least the modern royal family. I couldn't see them stepping up and doing anything.

Give them some power and maybe I wouldn't care so much, I think the Olympics was the perfect reason I dislike modern royals. Yes the Queen has to show up at these occasions and I love when she shows up as I said she was a pillar of strength for her people in real hard times in the war and she is someone everyone loves. But William, Harry, Charles, Kate and Camilla were at every other event! Now normal people struggled to get tickets to anything, out of the millions of events they didn't see one live. And most people didn't see anything live because they were working at the time. But no, the younger royals spent the whole event in the Olympic park.

Personally I don't see why that would give anyone hope or anything. They haven't done anything brave, they haven't really helped the people of their country, and they only got let in because they are the royal family!

I don't want some major disaster to happen so that they could stay strong and have an image like the Queen does to me, I just would prefer they didn't act like they were better then us and that being King next will make them even more Superior then us. Plus I don't trust that if we were bombed like in WWII any of them would stay behind in London, they'd be hid away somewhere shitting their pants!

I know Harry and William work, Harry I have respect for as he wanted to go to the front lines and fight for the country, William just does sea rescue and I don't think charity work counts. Yeah it makes people feel all warm and happy inside when they see our royals looking after people blah, blah. But that isn't a job. They don't do the hard, hard work for a charity they just show up and do publicity stunts. Sometimes they'll do one of the challenges but that means very little at the end of the day.

The aren't normal people, I know that, but at the end of the day Kate was. She might have been upper class but if she hadn't gotten married to William she would have had to get some kind of job and work to make her living. William and Harry never really needed to do anything other than the stupid things like their charity work.

In the past they weren't just normal people but they had a meaning and didn't just act better then everyone they WERE better then everyone. Yeah they were born into it but they still did things. They weren't good people (in a sense) but they had power and did things. Now we just keep them because they used to be powerful and they used to do that or this so now our identity.... Which is being based on history is that we need a Queen or King to "rule" us. But they don't rule us anymore, so why should they now they have no power not have to live like normal people?
