History (from Greek ἱστορία - historia, meaning "inquiry, knowledge acquired by investigation"[2]) is an umbrella term that relates to past events as well as the discovery, collection, organization, and presentation of information about these events. The term includes cosmic, geologic, and organic history, but is often generically implied to mean human history. Scholars who write about history are called historians.
his·to·ry /ˈhist(ə)rē/ Noun The study of past events, particularly in human affairs. The past considered as a whole.
So Anna is right the "HISTORY" of F1 is history, just because you have to go out and learn it yourself because it is something you like doesn't make it less important. Of course the history of F1 or the history of any kind of sport other than the Olympics wouldn't be subjects for a history class, and to be honest it won't be taught because it would mean taking away time from Physical Education where that kind of talk belongs but it is still history.
What Anna is asking is do people hate the term history because of how you re,member history from school which is dates/times/politics/kings/wars etc. Do people not realize that history can be so much more then that. I think its the whole area that Anna is coming from, she loves history because she looks into the history that excites her and we know she knows stupid amounts about all sorts of time periods and sports events.
The question is do you actually hate history or do you hate school history?
Maybe a good thing to do is name some "human history" and why we think its important.
Personally I think kids should learn about the classics, Egyptians/Romans/Greeks/Goths/Gauls etc because there is a kind of storybook feel to them. It'll keep kids interested. World War I and II should be taught as well as the history of Hitler, it ties in together and is the last big world event. It is also still being felt to this day and kids need to learn so that they don't step into the problems that we found ourselves in. Kings/Queens should be one module together and that be it, probably early on. It isn't THAT important to know which kings and queens we've had, we only need to know who is queen/king now.
I'd've liked to learn Medicine through time and probably more from other countries. We are way too self involved to be honest.
