Also having a male companion that isn't used to technology like Leela or Jamie would be amazing, it will raelly change the dynamic of the companions so far.

Should we change the poll over? I guess the main problem is the length between everything. If the rumor I heard is true and this has all been to stretch Matt's tenure to the 50th then it has ended excitement a bit. Put it this way. 50th Filming is over and very little escaped, not much out doors filming, leaves fans to squabble about unknowns and lengths of the special. We then get Matt's leaving announcement followed by a live show giving us our new Doctor. A week or so ago Christmas started to be filmed. So far hardly ANYTHING has been seen of the filming, again majority of the chat is about unknowns and the 50th. The regeneration will be filmed soon but bare in mind. 1. Capaldi will regenerate in Matt's outfit 2. He might only be on screen for like 5 minutes or less 3. Filming for HIS series isn't due to start until the new year which is another 3 odd months away So we WON'T know what he'll be wearing until about Christmas or later, we WON'T know anything at all about the next episode to be shot which is another "hush, hush" production and we'll have at least 3 plus months to wait for any chatter on the series again OTHER than to talk about the two shows that have/are being filmed and the anniversary stuff. They needed to get people excited about Capaldi but to be fair I forgot about all that until I came on here.

It doesn't help at all that the only two episodes filmed this year have been kept under wraps, but it is October next week which means closing in on a month before the anniversary then it is only another 4 or so weeks until Christmas, by the time we are over those two episodes filming will be much closer, Matt will be gone so the production team will be more free to talk about Capaldi. Meaning we are closer to the end of all this waiting about and making discussions up to keep ourselves happy and closer to the beginning of much more Capaldi-ness fun! We'll keep this thread separate until his first episode is about to be aired and I'll get the poll changed over next time I'm online

I really do want to see a grumpier type of Doctor, I don't want him to be buddy/buddy with the companion, at the same time not horrible. More stern. It could be an interesting way to take it, Clara could become a sort of Peri type. Some people I know hated Six more for his attitude to Peri, Clara and Elevens relationship even if for me wasn't very real was still there for half a season. Eleven obviously cared for Clara if Twelve doesn't it would be a brave new way of doing things? Maybe he refuses to take her home? Refuses to let her leave wherever they are and she has to get him to help? Also still hoping that he can't get the TARDIS wherever he wants. A bit like Tegan, trying to get her back to Heathrow, trying to get Clara back to her flat?

It was a great look and in the long run didn't really get to stick around long (not the tweed the Victorian look!) That could be an interesting idea, though I guess the big problem with that is that it would take something away from him. He'd need one small thing to stay the same, say like 9s jumper or 11s bow tie. Looking at twitter and there are some really interesting things being said, so far it seems to all be very hush hush though but I have read that rumours of a male companion are gathering steam. Anyone think that would be a good idea? I think it could work very much like Two/Jamie with Clara being the Victoria of the group. I'd prefer if they kept things friendly, we've just had a great love interest travelling in the TARDIS, it would be nice if Clara gets a little jealous of the Doctor inviting his "own" companion to join them (thinking that he's only really keeping her because she was 11's) and then growing to realise that the boys aren't too bad, maybe having the Doctor save her in a dramatic style and realising that he hadn't moved on and ending up being three mates in the TARDIS with two people instead of one around to tell the Doctor he's being a twit! Much like Amy/Rory's dynamics (after all they were best friends) but without the marriage and lovey dovey stuff. A lot of the time you didn't really get big swathes of time being told how in love Amy and Rory were and they'd be able to be quite separate people easily. But this time just take the romance completely away and have the friends feeling.

I knew quite a lot about the episode before it aired, the only bits we didn't really know were bits that were studio based like the TARDIS regeneration etc. We knew about the clock tower mushroom cloud explosion and we also knew "With love from Gallifrey" which people were quite rightly (until the studio based ending was given to us) thought to be his final words. I'm happy they weren't and I'm happy there was more. Now I went looking for these, the Sun I believe printed it on a double page spread. After that there were a lot of fans pointing fingers and bickering and then someone came with the ominous "they know who you are and are planning on keeping a tight eye on you and more studio filming to stop leaks". Whether that is what is happening or it is just pot luck that suddenly everything has gone quiet I don't know.
