Haha I brought something to your attention . I actually think its nice that Iceland want their country to have Icelandic names, also the point they made is their alphabet is different. I think in this day and age you can't do it though, the moment the girl went public with her appeal to have her name stay what it is, everyone will moan about the country being racist and other such things. The government, or at least some governing body needs to look at it though. Alright stupid names like, I watched a ITV program the other night were a character had been called Wilson Wilson by their dad, is alright. The parents should of course think about whether a kid will be picked on before naming them but I doubt anyone will be going to Apple (Chris Martin and Gwenyth Paltrows daughter) and take the mick out of her for being called Apple, same with Harper Seven Beckham. But if my sister had called her daughter Harper Seven your sure she'll be taken the mick of in school. Its difficult though because my name was turned into Anna Banana at school and people could have always picked on me for that. And again people slowly accepting names like Skye which are pretty sounding is good. But if there was no one governing it what says they don't called their kid Adolf Hilter, or Shut Up or anything else? You'd like to think that parents would be sensible but what about people who have kids to get benefits or who are just scabby in general? Its difficult because I understand why a country would want to keep its identity from "Americanization" and such things, but at the same time you can't really tell people what to do to that extent without backlash. People have to agree to be policed like that.
