So we're going to have this discussion as a debate too ? Anything made for the anniversary in the anniversary year is a real celebration. I understand people want a full season, but we might not get one. What we know we're getting IS a step above for fans, and people who say "well I don't listen to the audios, I don't want stamps, I'm not interested in documentaries and I hate 3D" don't realize what celebrating an anniversary means. James Bond didn't have 2 movies because of its 50th. It had documentaries and a big merchandise push, but just the standard 1 movie. So Doctor Who is getting a half season (ending last years) a 60 minutes special and a Christmas special. Yeah we're missing a half season of episodes, its sad, its also a different discussion, one we had last year when we only got the first (and shorter) half of season 7. The special is going to be 3D and in cinemas. Big Finish have a multi-Doctor Classic Audio. We get stamps, toys, a figurine collection and other stuff to buy if we want. We also get a docudrama, the revisited edited down from the US version and possibly another documentary in November. Not to mention 11 books, one for each Doctor, writer by a famous childs author. Plus the backend of the year might have Doctor Who indents on BBC. And there is always the possibility of repeats of the classic series after series 7 has finished. Would I want more? Hell yes. I want a full season, then 11 special episodes for each of the Doctors (animated of course), I want a Pond-Life lead up to the anniversary, just longer episodes! I want a month full of game shows, documentaries and repeats. I want the actual anniversary to be a Doctor Who day on BBC. Do I really want it? Yes and no. Yes because I'm a fan and no because its also JFKs assassinations 50th year and I don't want wall to wall documentaries about that (but someone might), and last year I'd have killed myself if all I could find was non-stop James Bond (but some people would have loved it) and I wouldn't have liked it if Corrie took over the world either on their anniversary (again some might have.) 50 years might be a lot but soon it'll be NuWho's 10th anniversary which will be marked in some way. And other TV shows have anniversaries and there is a whole history of historic events and their anniversaries and I don't want to be inudated with things about that so why should people who don't like Doctor Who be bored with our celebrations? Because it makes money? Nah not buying it. Mainly because people are moaning about having to spend money anyway!
