I don't have problems with people reviewing things, having an opinion and sharing that opinion. Personally I do have a problem when they decide to tweet/facebook/blog comment that opinion. I mean make your own blog, write it on facebook or twitter but don't broadcast it to the actors/directors/writers. Yeah you might not like the episode/film/book/performance but it is the fastest way to lose that little link to a magical world that other fans really love. I have more of a problem with it when it comes to sports stars though, especially some of the comments directed at F1 drivers. Now I tweet that I dislike them but I'd never TAG them in that post! And I wouldn't blame them if they gave up to be honest! If Matt Smith got fed up of being compared to darling David every episode and didn't want to carry on I wouldn't really hold it against him! I'm fed up as a fan, I'm fed up of people saying Moffat left twitter because he can't deal with criticism. Thing is they have opinion polls and probably BBC guys searching for those opinions, you don't have to tweet him saying he's shit for your opinion to be noted, and if it really is a pointless opinion (both ways "Its ******* shit" or "Its bloody awesome") rightly ignored as well! Some people are just ready to dislike things, they have their popcorn ready and are bad mouthing it up to two days in advance of seeing it just to make sure they are heard. To be totally happy they have to be miserable. Its a small proportion of the world but they do exist, and if people give up because they actually want to make people happy but see people going out of their way to hate them then yeah we'll lose out. Whether its interacting with them on social media or whether its the show/film/book whatever being axed/cancelled. Criticism is different from hate. I always liken it to when I was on Bebo all those moons ago ( Pete knows what I'm talking about and so does psychoseal) we had an "anti-Hamilton" page. Now unlike the ones that wished drivers death and all that we mainly were anti you MUST LOVE Hamilton because he's British and then that attitude being carried over by Hamilton himself. A lot of our blog posts etc were more about "so what he's done this, yeah credit where its due but if you look at this it isn't that special" and was actually quite funny and witty debates (like on here). We'd never send that to Hamilton or his management and we deleted really horrible messages and stupid threats and when he did something worthy of praise we praised him, just in his first year especially for British viewers he could do no wrong and as far as ITV were aware we all loved the ground he walked on and only liked F1 for him. It wasn't a hate page it was just a page for like minded people to keep away the "OMG F1 is so boring but I love Hamilton" comments which drowned Bebo out in his first year. We were never rude or threatening, when he ****** up we said he ****** up but we are also able to say our own favorite drivers ****** up when they do (probably why the Hamilton love in which has disappeared in recent times wound us up so much!) But most importantly if Twitter had been around and Hamiltons account active we would NEVER have posted it to him, I don't follow him and I don't mention him in posts, I'll rant about him and laugh at his retirements (in the most sportsmanly manor) but I would never hound him on twitter because I disliked him. The difference with them is that they aren't out to make us happy anyway .
