Has anyone seen Palpatine mentor Anakin? I thought Obi-Wan was his mentor? The films were alright but his story was badly handled. No we never did see him being mentored by anyone but Obi-Wan (and Ginn) the big problem is the whole time he's being mentored by him he resents being mentored and wants to be his own person. Now this kind of talk about saving people from death would have worked last episode. And nowhere do we get a coherent understanding of why Anakin just doesn't give a **** about people who care about him. Was it Palpatine that saved him from slavery? Taught him what he knew? In all this time did anything that Obi-Wan told him to do lead him to the wrong thing? No of course not he ignored everything Obi-Wan said and ended up getting it wrong. Yeah it is very difficult to care about this whole thing when all they've ever presented to us was a sulky boy. He was the lucky one. He got out of slavery to do what he always dreamed of. He had a happy goodbye and got to choose whether or not he wanted to take on the job. It wasn't like anyone forced him, he had a choice, he still has a choice. EVERY Jedi has told him he has to give up the people he cares for, even Palpatine just told him the bad side of wanting power, yet he ignores everything. EVERYTHING! He wants it his way all the time. That is the only important thing to him. So how are we meant to care? What was the point? I feel more sorry for Lord Voldemort and that is saying something! I think George Lucas is a genius, JK Rowling not so much but at least she gave great depth to her bad guy. These films had little point to them in the end other then to make money. I know Lucas wanted to tell the stories but I feel he didn't know what it was he wanted to tell.
